This  Saturday August  28th  we will be at Paisley farmers' market   between 09.00-13.00. along with other AFN colleagues .The  weather   is looking   more friendly  ! ..We hope to see you there..  definitely worth a visit.We will have the Nantwich  Cheese Awards  2010 winning Aiket cheese with us .It really is the number  1  soft rinded speciality cheese in the UK !!!

On Sunday  29th  we will be at the popular  and attractive Fencebay farmers' market  at Fairlie  south of Largs   10.00-14.30   -hope to see you there

Last month   we were at the Stewarton and  Dunlop show  and the weather was amazing ....we met many new customers and provided them  with wonderful "food to  go "!  We  participated  in Coeliac Awareness week  and were at  at Kilmarnock farmers's market at the  Foregate   Saturday 19th  June   -09.00-13.00  with  a selection of  our flavoursome  vegetarian/gluten free food. including  our gluten free oatcakes made with Tilquhillie  100%  Gluten free  oatflakes. We  presented  at their  local group AGM on June 16th .Continuing   our follow through  of contacts after  our visit to http://www.visitscotlandexpo.com   at SECC Glasgow  during the two days 14-15th  April . There were  many  visitors to  our Ayrshire Food Network  stand in the Ayrshire &Arran zone N25-N32  ..several people made  return visits to sample  some delicious  Petrie apple and cinnamon  cake  supplied for tasting !! NB. We  have   developed    a small scale   full on line presence  at  Big Barn Marketplace   http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/marketplace  from April  1st  2010 onwards ..Click on postcode KA36BA  and  search bakery  for our  pilot trial entry and offerings.This presence will broaden and develop over the next few weeks  and we look forward to supplying  our very flavoursome  gluten free products in particular to a wider audience.  Based In  a rural property near Fenwick in Ayrshire ,Petrie Fine foods  has developed  quietly  yet progressively  since  1998, when it was founded by Eileen and  Howard  Wilknson.We  spoke  at the  Holyrood  Food conference in Edinburgh  on May 26th  regarding sustainable supply chains and the Ayrshire  Food  network., and included  a sampling of  some of our produce  as part of an Ayrshire Food Network   presentation to Visit  Scotland on June 29th

 As a  specialist producer of  very flavoursome vegetarian  and more recently gluten free foods,our longest established products  are the highly acclaimed  festive christmas puddings,supplied in eathenware basins in 4 sizes . These  have  enjoyed very high repeat order rates for the last 10 years  ,and are currently  being supplied   far and wide . After   more positive press comments   and   family to family recommendations  sales were very high last season .Production restarts on September 14th .

The savoury range  includes freshly made flans  using local   ingredients  including  Dunlop  cow or goats cheeses;  vegetable loaves with rice and almonds ;vegetarian haggis  croquettes , a specially created  Homecoming   Black  Bun, seasonal fresh fruit  pies , apple and walnut  pates ,many  of which  products are  available   gluten free..petrie fine foods at paisley market

The Gluten free Clootie Dumplings,and gluten free Vegetarian Haggis  together with  a newly created gluten free Chocolate cake  and  gluten free savoury crumble  &  gluten free oatcakes were featured at the  Coeliac Ayrshire  Food Fayre at the Walker Hall in Troon on March 20th.It was  avery exciting event and  we met over 100 new potential  customers . The Tilquhillie oatflakes were  a great success..A considerable number of new customers have resulted from this  important event.

 We  also bake hand made artisan  breads including  spelt, olive, walnut with fresh herbs ,wholemeal and other  seasonal specialities  .

Cake ranges  include  the sensationally light & healthy  gluten free lemon yoghurt cake , also  gluten free  chocolate & beetroot cake  , apple and cinnamon, carrot , and ginger cakes. Others  include  special  cakes suitable for  diabetics, plus traditional walnut and whisky  cakes, and ever popular clootie dumplings, again available gluten  free.

Many of  these gluten free products have been enjoyed by members of the Coeliac Society  Groups  in Glasgow,the Forth Valley,the Borders as well as Ayrshire ,after our successful   savoury  produce demonstration and tastings  at  the gluten free food fayre at Polmont in 2007 and Glasgow in March 2009.  The  Coeliac event which took  place  on March 20th  2010.  Walker Hall Troon  was  an excellent event .Congratulations to the organisors

Our products are sold primarily   via farmers  markets  including   Ayr,  Glasgow Partick,  Falkirk, Kilmarnock Paisley, Fencebay ,and   at  the  annual joint event with  the leading wine merchants Corney and Barrow Whighams  of Ayr on December 10th , as part of  the  global Terra Madre Day  which celebrated local produce and the 20th anniversary of Slow Food .We will launch at the new Kilwinning farmers 'market on  October 23rd

  ..Certain cakes  are available  at Balmoral Knitwear  coffee shop in Galston,and Thirst  Arts Centre  Cafe in Stewarton .Our festive puddings  are  available at  Burns Country Smokehouse in Minishant  Ayrshire see www.burnsmoke.com. Some are exported  on  a small scale to www.famousscotland.be in Knokke-Heist Belgium,and  as far as we know  private individuals took them  to at least 10 other countries  during the festive season. 

We   can  fulfil  mail order  and internet based  orders. via  e mail,texts etc.We use ANC/FEDEX as our  chosen courier ,providing assured deliveries and an on line tracking service .,and thoroughly recommend them

At the farmers'  markets we  sell also the Dunlop Dairy  cheese,the  non homogenised Westacre milk,and often  the  award winning Corrie Mains  free range eggs  all of  which  represent our key locally sourced ingredients  from within the Ayrshire Food Network

Petrie is proactively involved in the Ayrshire Food  Network ,and  the joint owners ,as individuals ,are closely  associated with the  Slow Food  Movement.,and Heal the Earth ,Ayrshire.

We have made  a financial contribution   to the latter organisation  equivalent  to offsetting the  carbon  emissions  of Petrie Fine Foods in 2008  .The money is being used  to help develop a community   vegetable garden in Kilmarnock .This has  gained environmental funding support and  vegetables plantings have already started.We have started to   use them in our  savoury products  in 2010.. Many of you came  and saw the  organisation and garden first hand by attending the Eco Fayre at Dean  Castle  on March 7th
